<description>It is all too easy to forget what a radical document that is.
One has to wonder what the reaction would be if a similarly well crafted document were circulated referencing the U.S. instead of George III.

		<description>Adam,
This may sound a little silly, but thanks for posting this.
The last time I looked at this document in any significant way was in 1999. I&#039;m from Milwaukee, but in that year, I was consulting in Boston, MA. My folks had come up from Florida to celebrate Independence Day in Boston with me. I commuted weekly and kept an apartment at The Devonshire, a high rise building next to the Old State House at Devonshire and State Street.
The Declaration of Independence was first read from the East Balcony of the Old State House on July 18th, 1776. It has been read once per year from that balcony ever since. My folks and I got up early and listened to that reading that morning of July 4th, 1999.
It is amazing how easy it is to forget the simple things that get us to freedom and clear thinking. Bumping into your copy on your blog brings back memories of both Ma and Pa (both are now dead) and the sacrifices that so many made to give us the freedoms we now know. Here&#039;s hoping its not another six years before I&#039;m reminded again.
