I think what is sick is that the Media is like not covering none of this like they do with people who are citizens at large. I wonder if your employed by the Goverment some how that make’s you untouchable, Brian J Doyle a man with Home Land Security I thought the new’s media would have had a field day with it like they have done on many sex scandel’s dealing with Goverment employee’s, that’s right he’s a Republican….Man I could have had a V8—-LOL

It is not clear to me that these two people are former TSA employees. Alternatively, I suppose, maybe ChoicePoint screens DHS as well?

How can you screen for a crime when he had a clean record? It seems that since he had never had any actions against him in the past that it would have been difficult to know that he was a predator with a background check that would have been clean. It is disgusting and reprehensible and is a reminder to all that we have no idea who is out there

Hmmm, one false negative equals failure? I would have expected more. I checked with ChoicePoint and it turns out they denied 10 million other applicants who were subsequently arrested on similar grounds elsewhere. So they let 1 in 10 million go through.
I think you’re right, though. A National ID card would be a great way to reduce the likelihood of this happening in the future. We should try harder, screen harder, and collect more information so it doesn’t happen.

If I recall the article correctly, this guy is alleged to have used his work computer for some of this activity. Given that he works for DHS, you’d kind of expect some kind of traffic inspection. Heck, even Snort’s “porn.rules” might have been enough to catch this.
Next time some government official wonders what an “F” in security really means, we can safely say that it means that children are being victimized thanks in part to the inability of various bureaucracies to implement basic measures.
I’m happy the ‘victim’ here was actually a cop, but had it been a child, I wonder whether she and her family would have a cause of action against DHS.
