Those of you who are not old enough to remember, permit me to offer some historical data. This wonderful speech was interrupted by the president of the US, who didn’t want her speech to influence the seating of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party delegation, an integrated delegation, but not the “offical” Democratic, all white, delegation.
The MFDC delegation was not seated but their direct action, powerful presentation led to substantial changes in how delegates for the Democratic Party are elected to go to the convention. The many colors, genders, etc that you see today on the convention floor are a direct result of those actions.

I think the post is timely and relevant.
I’d like to see a more direct link between this and the extensive history of black people running for president, as Obama isnt the first.
Or was that not a link you were insinuating?
